Nero is a demon hunter, working within the mobile branch of the Devil May Cry organization. Formally, Nero was a Holy Knight under the Order of the Sword on the island of Fortuna. He is a hybrid of human and demon blood.


Nero was born to a human mother and is the biological son of half-demon, Vergil. He is the grandson of the legendary Sparda, and the nephew of demon hunter, and original series protagonist, Dante. This makes Nero a 3/4 human, 1/4 demon hybrid.
