Hisa

About

Hisa is the one of the ten rulers of Hell, responsible for overseeing the punishment of sinners sent there. Even though he is referred to as "Enma", that is not his real name, rather the name of his position, which he inherited from the previous one who held it. His real name is Hisa, which he left behind when he became a demon.

Despite taking a different partner every day, he propositions Takimura daily to become his lover. Whenever he isn't busy with official tasks, he likes to garden.


When he was a human, Hisa lived in the 17th century Japan in a poor family, and befriended and fell in love with Kayo, the young son of a merchant. In an attempt to get rich quickly through blackmail, Hisa's mother and her lover kidnapped and killed Kayo in secret even though the ransom had been paid. After killing both of them in revenge, Hisa committed suicide by drowning and was found by the previous Enma, who took him under his protection after Hisa agreed to become a demon. Centuries later, he still blames himself for Kayo's death.


After Hisa discovers Takimura's past, he resigns from the position of ruler of Hell and is sent back to the realm of humans. Later, Takimura meets him again, Hisa having reincarnated as Chizuru Wakisaka.
