Adam Smasher is a full-borg solo and one of the antagonists of the series. He is employed by Arasaka and by 2077 and has risen to the position of head of security.
Smasher is a towering cyborg, with little humanity left to be seen. He has no empathy for others, including his fellow employees, but Arasaka kept him alive, so he lives to repay their act by killing any enemies of the corporation Arasaka puts in front of him.

Background:
After being reduced to mush by an RPG blast, Arasaka offered him a choice; either pull the plug or become a full-body cyborg. With little to no options and a lack of care for his human side, he agreed and became more machine than man.


In 2076, Smasher was brought in by Arasaka agents Kate and Douglas to deal with the rampaging mercenary David Martinez, who was in possession of an experimental Arasaka "cyberskeleton."
Timeline:

When David arrived at Arasaka Tower, Smasher emerged to save Douglas's life and engaged David. Adam took his chances to attack David while he was distracted by Faraday. The two go into an explosive battle which results in the death of one of David's crew members.

Nearing the end of the battle, David uses a gravity crush on Smasher while he was distracted. However, Smasher rips off the anti-gravity devices and proceeded to beat David in his crippled exoskeleton.

As David confidently accepted his fate, Smasher executed him with a shot to the skull at point-blank range.
