Yoshie Uemachi

The director of Shiro's law firm and an expert in bankruptcy law. She set up the Kamimachi Law Office with her husband who was also a lawyer, but he died soon after from a subarachnoid hemmorhage. At his funeral her mother-in-law chided her for working instead of being a housewife who would've paid more attention to her husband's health, but Yoshie still kept going as a lawyer and raised her son Osamu by herself. She doesn't get along very well with her daughter-in-law Haruna who is a housewife, with whom Yoshie is a little disappointed. As such, she doesn't live with her son's family, although her apartment is just a 10 minute walk away, and she interferes little in their affairs.
