Appears in Wasuregatami (Keepsake). Toyoji is suddenly thrust into fatherhood when a living infant is discovered in the grave of his late wife, O-Suzu. He had already faced social contempt after deciding to take his pregnant mistress, O-Mitsu, for a wife shortly after O-Suzu's death.


Toyoji claims that his and O-Suzu's son, Manjuro, was born as a result of O-Suzu asking Toyoji to sleep with her on the night of her death, after the wake. He is also the one who agreed to poison O-Suzu in order to get her out of the way.
