Nao Sugita

About

Appears in Hakoniwa no Toriko (The Prisoner in the Miniature Garden). Nao is in her second year of high school and confesses to the bicycle thief, asking him to be her boyfriend. Despite his attempts to push her away, she continues to seek him out.


Nao gives him a letter on her birthday, asking him to read it the following morning. In it, she confesses to having had plans to commit suicide together with her family, and to having despised him for stealing the seats of her bicycle. Her acts of kindness and apparent interest in him are, likewise, stated to have been performed with the goal of having him remember her while suffering the pain of loss. However, when she is left in a coma, he notices that she is wearing the necklace he had given her.


In the extra at the end of the volume, she is shown waiting for him at the window of her hospital room, smiling.
