Masayuki is Tooru's maternal grandfather. After Tooru's parents pass away, Masayuki takes Tooru in and raises him. Even though he doesn't understand why his son has grown distant, Masayuki still wishes for his happiness, regardless of whom Yukihiko's partner happens to be.
