Kyouya became a host in order to support his mother and sister, following his father's suicide because of a loan he'd guaranteed for a friend.

In Tsumasaki ni Kiss, Kyouya is the top host at Club Sonic, one of the Yasobe group's properties. He flirts with Homura a lot even if he's always rejected, and is upset to find out that Homura's promise to date him if he earned top spot had only been a lie to motivate him. Ultimately, Kyouya decides to quit being a host after having his heart broken.

In Gravity Eyes, Kyouya enrolls in law school and works part-time as a waiter. Despite having a poor first impression of him, Kyouya lets Youji adopt two stray kittens under the condition that Kyouya look after them. After being unable to conceal his feelings for Mamoru, Kyouya ends up staying with Youji and getting a job at a law agency.
