Turner is 25 years old and a shoemaker. While outside on a cold day, he notices a barefoot man on a bench. Due to his kind nature and genuine curiosity regarding the shoeless man, he offers to take him home. Unsure of what to call him, Turner names the mysterious man "Benjamin," after a famous homeless man who performed barefoot. Additionally, Turner offers to make Benjamin shoes and provides housing during the construction. The two grow closer, and a romance blooms. Turner finishes Benjamin's shoes and is left for two years.
