Tsurumi's Grandmother

    About

Tsurumi's sweet and lovely grandmother seems to be the only one in Tsurumi's family that always accepted him for the "gift" he gained, helping him to live a life together with this troubling ability. She calls her nephew "Gin-chan" and is shown to be a very cheerful person.

The often comedic grandmother is a medium and also possesses powers. She explains her abilities as highly developed senses of smell, hearing, and sight. She does not have an alien in her head; rather, she is just a special human being.

Tsurumi's grandmother often asked him to bring Komaki to her as he seemed to talk about her a lot, which made the old lady quite curious about her. Komaki meets Tsurumi's grandmother during the time she feared she was being followed by a ghost.

Tsurumi's grandmother likes Ikeno and helps her escape from the "ghost." She explains to her that these "ghosts" are simply "stains," which are strong feelings that happen to stay at certain places. When a person feels sad and meets a stain full of sadness, they will be followed by this stain which amplifies the feelings of the person. Negative stains are the worst effects that a person can be affected by. When the stains are caused by the feelings of the deceased, their power is even stronger and lasts longer.

Komaki later finds out that the little plushies Tsurumi always won at the Ufo Catcher's game center, are used to "exorcise" those stains and are later set free under an old tree. The old trees have a natural power to absorb and purify the stains, and the plushies are inanimate objects used as containers for the stains.

Tsurumi's grandmother also tells Komaki that Hana may not be a real alien, as to her Hana is more similar to a stain.
With her comedic and mischievous behavior, Tsurumi's grandmother succeeds at getting Komaki to sleep at their home for one night, and uses Komaki's fear of ghosts to get her to sleep near Tsurumi.

She also tells Komaki about Tsurumi's sad childhood.

In the past, people always looked at Tsurumi with anger because as a child, he could often hear things that others did not want him to hear due to his heightened sense of hearing.
The day after, she invites Komaki to come visit again, but this opportunity never comes again.

After Tsurumi's grandmother dies, her stain, recognizable by its smell, brings Komaki to an old tree. This lets her have the chance to say something to Tsurumi at the very last moment. Her death had been predicted months ago, and hence, she expected this and even prepared Tsurumi the best she could for bearing the pain. The cause of death was never stated, though it was probably a disease.

The name of Tsurumi's grandmother was never revealed.
