    Alberto Shiroma is a member of music band DIAMANTES (ディアマンテス). Alberto Shiroma and the Diamantes are 3rd generation Peruvian-born Japanese, who have performed internationally. They currently live in Japan and do many live concerts to thousands of young people. They sing in Japanese and Spanish. In 1985, Alberto won the best vocalist in Peru's singing competition with a prize of a trip to Japan. A year later, he was giving live performances in Japan. In 1991, he formed his group Diamantes (Diamonds in Spanish). In 1993, they debuted with their first album and have since released 6 albums through 1999. Alberto received his Grand Prix award with his Kono Aoi Sora wo Kimi ni at the Manila International Music Festival in the Philippines. This ballad was dedicated to the children of the world. In August of 2000, Alberto Shiroma released his first solo album in the United States and it was a big hit. His second solo album recorded in New York in collaboration with Latin artist Marc Anthony, was also a big hit. His popularity grew when he composed the theme song Kata Teni Sanshin Wo for the 2nd and 3rd Worldwide Okinawa Festival in Okinawa which was attended by thousands of Okinawans who came from all parts of the world to return to their homeland through these festivals.
